Good one!

As your dinner guest? A group of bloggers. I'd like to see The Good Husband/Returning to Happiness, The Good Wife, Bob - of course, Bob!, Lisa, Married & Defeated, Tucker Max, Steve, The Bunny and The LibPrincess sitting down for a meal and chatting.

As your close friend? Hmmm...Drew Barrymore. Cameron Diaz. George Clooney. Donald Trump. Ellen DeGeneres. Lisa Kudrow. Janet Evanovich. Bob - of course Bob! The Good Wife, bien sur! Wait...was I limited to just one???

As your lover? There can only be one. The Even Husband.

Dinner guest-
I feel really bad about this one as I could have invited him over anytime I wanted. Willie was a very nice homeless guy that I used to see every day. I would usually give him $5 a week and the only time he asked for more is if he was sick. I bought him cold medicine a few times in the winter when living outdoors can be pretty miserable, gave him an old jacket and some gloves once. What really killed me was when I saw him after Thanksgiving one year and he was going on about a play in one of the weekend football games. I asked "Oh, did you see that one?" and he suddenly looked very sad as he mentioned reading about it in the paper. I felt like a real idiot.

That Friday I gave him some money and asked him to promise me to use it for a hotel room and good food for the weekend.

I should have just invited him for Christmas dinner. Shortly after that my schedule changed so I wasn't going by his "spot" and haven't seen him in a few years. He was a really nice guy, articulate and intelligent but in a situation that he had little hope of climbing out of by himself. I never saw any evidence that he had any substance abuse or mental problem. He was a 40 year old black man from the south with nobody in LA. His family was all gone, his trade was replaced by computers, and his record had a felony assault from a bar fight that pretty much made him unemployable.

Friends? Nobody famous.

Lover? I have mine thanks but if I had to start from scratch I might visit Colombia. Movie star lover- there are so many to chose from. Eye candy or substance? I'll say Thandie Newton for today. (Of course I wouldn't turn down Angelina, Salma, or the like)

Jay

Sheesh.... why do you do this to me? You once again you make me think. Well, if I could have anyone for these choices....

For a dinner guest, my Grandmother. I miss her alot, she was the one who always bound our family together, made the holidays special, and loved a good party. I would love to be able to show her how my life has turned out, show her my new home with many of its furnishings and housewares having come from her home, and be able to cook a meal for her instead of her cooking for me. Of course, I would also love to have the chance to talk with her just once more, and let my daughter see her Great-Grandmother one more time. She was very young when she died and although she remembers her, the memories for her are not clear, I am sure. I would also take the opportunity to snap hundreds of pictures of my daughter with her, since I have none. Her health was frail when I finally was able to get custody of my daughter and while I made the journey to bring her to visit, my Grandmother would not let us take any pictures of the two of them together because of her appearence. I regret that to this day and probably always will.

As a close friend; I am very fortunate to have some wonderful friends, although they don't number very high. I am very selective who I choose to call a friend, but I have hundreds of aquaintences. I was always taught that it was quailty of your friends, not the quantity of them that defined your charachter. I think I have chosen pretty well in the friends I have, and I think I will keep the ones I have.

As a lover; Let me start by saying that I am VERY happy with my current realtionship and would not want to change that. Well, I might want to change the distance between us, but that is a different issue. That being said, I think if I could have anyone for a lover, and I will take it one step further and say that it would be a one time deal, it would not be a famous person. Celebrities and the like are a dime a dozen and anyone can look incredible with the right money, clothes, hair, make-up and cosmetic surgery. If I was going for just superfcicial looks, I would probably say something like Paris Hilton..... of course, she pays for the room for the night! Seriously, if I could spend one night with anyone, I would want to spend it with an old girlfriend of mine, actually the first girl I ever made love to. She was tragically killed many years ago and I would have loved to have had at least one more night with her.

I don't suppose this question comes with a time machine to allow me to fulfil any of these, huh?

Hmmm, I love it when you ask these sort of questions GW...

If I could have anyone as my dinner guest, I would want to meet my mother before she met my dad. I would have loved to have seen what she use to be like, what her dreams and ambitions were. I would ask for her advice and seek her guidence. I know that she has changed over these past years and I miss the way she use to be. She was young once too and I know that she'd be a great guest.

As my close friend, I have a couple of different people that I'd like to have lunch with...one being my best Shelly. We've been friends for such a long time and although I don't see very often anymore, we always pick up right we left off. Another person I'd love to have lunch with is our very own GW. She's such a great person and I'd love to hear about her life.

As a lover, the answer pretty much speaks for itself...lol. He makes me very happy and has been invaluable these past few days. There is one person from my past as well that I'd love to have a lunch guest...he too was a great guy but life got in the way. After that experience, I vowed to never let life get in the way of love again.

Ahh memories...

Damn, Greg beat me to it. I would say my wife, too.

But if I'd said it first I reckon it would have been worth at least 10 brownie points.

But now it's only worth one at best.

But despite that it would without question be my wife. Every time.
